Can I Plea the 5th?

This comment blog is in response to Katie Winters'  blog entitled Hey Hey! Ho Ho! No blood for Acevedo! After reading her blog I found it to be a very good argument for the elimination of the forced blood test given to drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated. Yes, you read it right, I said forced. I would imagine that the only  persons that would consent to this  self  incrimination,  by agreeing to a blood test, would have to be a very inebriated person. I really like that she put links in her blog to back up the argument, which make it even better. I have to stand by Ms.Winter's argument and say that the law enforcing of these blood samples will be challenged in the Supreme Court one day, and it will be because of our 5th amendment right. I also must say that I like the added link to the free designated driver sight. Kudos to you Miss.Winters on a job well done.

Jumping the Gun, Free TV not so Free anymore

Once again our wonderful United States Government  has jumped the gun. Just as they have in the past with the food chain (remember, it all changed not to long ago) and also in the nutritional value in eggs. They have flip flopped on eggs more that John Kerry did during his run for the presidency.  Which is all water under the bridge, I guess, but when it comes to the FCC's (Federal Communication Commission's)  regulation of  the Television Medias, and the People of the United States to go digital they have made a mistake. The Americas were not ready to do this a year ago (as Bush had ordered during his presidency, and Obama delayed in his first year), and still to this day we are not ready for it. Can you remember a time when you could turn on your television and skip through the channels and tune in every station in your area? Now we have to get up and tune the antenna on almost every station. Not only that, while watching we sometimes have to get up and re-tune the channel in. The channel will freeze up and go out, even on a clear and cloudless day, and what is worse it is worse during the day than it is at night.
I did some research to see what could be done to alleviate this problem. The only answer I found is to go out and buy a digital antenna, at a starting price of $50.00, that will only reach out a 30 miles radius. If you want to get stations that are out any further, the antennas start at  $105.00  which doesn't include the instillation of the said antenna. So if you want to have the right to watch "free media television" comfortably you will have to pay. The government has already caused people to buy and attach a little black box to their digital television, which by the way you will need a box for each and every TV in your home. Although, in the government's defense they did give out two $40.00 vouchers to each American household, if you called in and registered for them.
The cheap box price started at $48.00 if bought at Walmart. The problem I found whith the black box is that it will not shut off, it will go into stand-by but it never shuts off, a waste of precious energy and money. If you believe in the conspiracy theory, then maybe these little black boxes are spying on you!
So, now some people will have to go out, buy a black box, an additional antenna, hire a professional to hook it up, and pay the price if they want to be able to watch "free media High Definition television" comfortably sitting on their couch. That is what we call, a not so Free American, TV.

Weeds II

This Blog is in response to my classmates Blog entitled Weeds.  I must truly say that I agree with it when it comes to making the all natural herb legal.  Not only is our Government spending billions of dollars on research of the plant, they have been doing it since the early 70's. In fact the National Institute On Drug Abuse , the sole administrator of a contract to grow cannabis (marijuana) for research purposes and the only legal source for cannabis in the United States, subcommittee thinks that it should not supply the cannabis for free:

                                  COUNCIL SUBCOMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
"The subcommittee emphatically agrees that NIDA
(National Institute On Drug Abuse) should not continue
to supply cannabis to researchers free of charge."

Tell me, would they be considered a drug dealer in our governments eyes?

Back to my classmates blog. I feel it is well written and I totally agree with them.  I only wish that they would of included a link or two to support their claims.  Anival, other than overlooking that slight detail, what I would consider a necessity, you did a fine job. Oh sorry,  one more thing the government doesn't agree with how you spelled Cannabis.

Don't Take The Right to Vote Lightly

Would you want work and live in a place in America where you paid your taxes, yet you have no elected official in Washington D.C. representing you? Would you let a Congress, that you had not been able to vote for, appoint the Electors to cast ballots in the Electoral College  for the President and Vice President of the United States? Would you like to just stand by and watch the elections pass you by year after year knowing that you have no actual say in Who is What and what Laws are Law?
Well, this situation has been going on in America for more that 200 years. Yes, I said it has been going on for over 200 years in this country and still going on to this date. Your probably appalled at this idea, thinking, I thought that is what we fought for in the Revolutionary war for? Well, your right to think that, because that is what we did fight for. But today, yesterday, and tomorrow the residents in Washington D.C. are not/and will not be allowed to vote, but, they have to pay their taxes, and can serve in the military.
According to the United States Constitution  in 1960 more than 760,000 people were living in the  Washington D.C.area, yet, now according to the 2009  census bureau only  599,657 people claim residency there. Probably moving out because they felt they have been shafted, not being allowed to vote. Some people might think that the reason the residents of Washington D.C. don't get to participate in a vote is because out of the population that lives there only 11.7% is over the age of  65  and we all know that that is the age that the government tends to listen to,  not enough to bother with perhaps?. Um who knows?
No, the reason that they are not permitted a vote is because Washington D.C. is not a state. They are considered a "unique city as the seat of the new government" (US Constitution 23rd amendment). Bummer right?  Maybe it's "time for change," because I surely wouldn't want to live in a place that I could not stand up and "Rock the Vote". Would you want to live there? So when you go to the poll's this year, remember you are the lucky ones, and you get to help choose who represents you, unlike the folks that live in Washington D.C. who don't even get the chance to.

More Money More Money More Money!

This blog at thinkprogress.org pertains to the exorbitant amount of  money that is being spent on political ads during this election year, by the CoC (Chamber of Commerce). The blog is written by Ben Armbruster, it's a follow up to a preceding blog entitled "The Chambers Non-Disclosure". I like that they dove right into the problem, and that they didn't hold any thing back. This blog seems to be a forth right and good place to catch a real glimpse at the goings on in and around the political arena. As I maneuvered through the links within the blog itself they took me to anywhere from "The Washington Post" to Government sites themselves, showing me the ins and outs, and building my trust.
I believe that the blog is well written, easy to understand, and deserves to be noticed by not only Joe, Sally, and I, but by Supreme Court of  The United States (SCOTUS) too. They made this blog easy for Joe the plumber to understand, and  I hope this blog doesn't fall on,  should I say a "blind eye", because as we all know justice is blind.  This blog is trying to truly wake up the general public and inform them of a wrong within our system, and I sure hope their alarm clock batteries don't die before SCOTUS gets up out of bed and rights the wrong they did when letting all this happen.

Who's footing the "Bill"?

In an opinion editorial out of USA Today entitled: Our view on campaign finance: Who's buying this election? Who knows?  The author is unnamed so I assume it to be the Editorial Board. This editorial reflects the smear campaigns being launched in our country. The editorial piece is meant to inform the general public on the "Disclose Act". Here is a quote from the editorial:
The Disclose Act, is stalled in Congress. Republicans are filibustering the act in the Senate, and Democrats wrecked the House version by allowing exceptions for powerful special interests such as the National Rifle Association, AARP and the Sierra Club.
The editorial itself does a decent job for a short editorial, the only thing that's I found irritating is the when I kept trying to link to the many links it kept crashing my computer.  Except for that, the majority of the links were all USA Today editorials. I think this article could of been a bit more convincing, if it had linked me to some of the more pertinent detailed information and where they had gotten it from. Although they do link you up to some pretty good ones, such as FactCheck.org. You know you want- to so check it o-out! (sung to the tune of the same song that Sandra Bullock sings in Miss. Congeniality)  Anyway back to the editorial, Even though this editorial is lacking I found it to be enlightening I only hope more Americans do too. What this editorial has urged me to do is one of two things:

1. Write my Congressman/woman and my Senators urge them  for tighter control on this funding
                                                                         or
2.  Start my own nonprofit organization. (Rules link, which is one of the links that kept crashing my computer)

Hoping It's "The Real Deal"

Dem. strategists downplay GOP edge in recent polls Written By MIKE GLOVER The Associated Press.

I read the above titled editorial and I though some might find it helpful and/or hopeful. I hope you do to. But alas I know that news stories are as lopsided as a see saw, but I sure hope this one has hit the nail on the head. This story tells us that the Democratic Party is probably not losing as bad as projected. It mentions that the Republican Party has sat on the sidelines for the last 20 months hoping for failure. One other thing the reporter tells is that it is hard for a President to be popular at first because he is dealing with, what I would call "leftovers" the reporter refers to as, "issues that he inherited." So remember all you young voters heading for the polls for the first time, we did not get into this economic situation overnight it took many, many years and 2, 3 or even 4  Presidents to get here today.

P.S. Two of them had practically the same name.

I think this story can shed some light on a dim subject for some down in the dump Democrats'.!
